17 Days In Already?

Am I alone in feeling like we have entered warp speed?

After my last post, life got super hectic, so I decided to take it easy during the holidays. I took a break from stress, ignored posting on social media, hung out with family, and let myself truly relax. And wow, I'm so glad I did. 2025 hit hard with tons of energy and challenges! She walked into the room and let herself be known! Now, 17 days into the year, I'm finally finding a moment to pause and regroup.

Like everyone else, I kicked off my fitness and meal plans. I even used an AI tool to help me develop my best plans. But guess what? Even though it's fantastic to have AI create something for you, you—the human—still have to follow through. I was doing great until the first Arctic Blast hit, and it derailed me. I ended up working longer hours because there was nothing else to do. I didn't get up early to work out because it was just too cold. I cooked whatever I had instead of what was in my plan. And yep, all my motivation, desire, and willpower just disappeared. I'm not blaming the Arctic Blast when I say "it" caused this. I get that this is on me. I allowed it; I let it happen; I put up with it.

I'm 17 days into my yearly goal, and another Arctic Blast is coming. Will I mess up again, or will I learn from the past and keep moving forward? That's definitely something to think about. I got curious about the number 17 because I don't believe in coincidences. This number has a lot of meanings, but the ones that stood out to me were Overcoming and Victorious, Transformation and New Beginning. I've been given a chance to hit reset and try again. Let's see how we can make that happen.

  1. Sticking to my fitness routine doesn't mean I have to go to the gym. I've got hand weights, mats, and a virtual cardio class membership at home. No excuses!

  2. It doesn't mean I abandon my routine because it's cold outside. I can still set my alarm, wake up at my usual time, and kick off my day.

  3. If I only eat what's already in my home, it shows that I didn't do a great job stocking up. Getting rid of junk and unhealthy stuff from the pantry and fridge/freezer helps me stick to my plan. And hey, grocery delivery is a thing!

  4. When I finally make it to the gym, I have to take advantage of my membership perks. That means red-light therapy, aqua massage, and free training sessions.

  5. Having someone to keep me in check really pushes me. However, I need to be straight with not just my accountability partner but myself, too.

  6. Keeping my calendar up to date and stick to it. When I set aside personal time for things like working out, reading, or reflecting, I need to stay committed and not change my schedule because others may ignore my boundaries.

Alright, I'm sharing this with everyone. These are the lessons I've learned and what I need to focus on for the next 17 days. I've even marked it on my calendar. On that day, I'll share what happened. You, yes, you, are now my accountability partner. If I don't post, I expect you to message me asking for an update.

Another reason I'm hitting the reset button is because I've set some big goals for myself. If 2025 is my year of overcoming, transformation, and new beginnings, here's what I must do by year-end.

  1. Reduce my debt by half by the end of the year. To do this, I'm focusing on growing my personal businesses and cutting back on spending. It's all about being wise with the resources I've been given.

  2. Drop 40 lbs by August. It shouldn't be too hard if I stick to the plan; it might happen sooner.

  3. Run a couple of 5K races and start prepping for a half marathon.

Once again, I'm sharing this with everyone. I'll upload some pictures in August and maybe later to show off my 5K medals!

Alright, now it's your turn. Have you strayed from your goal in the past 17 days or stuck with it? Do you have any goals for which you need accountability? I'd love to hear your stories!

Until Next Time,

DJ
